Ipamorelin is a selective ghrelin receptor agonist (GHS-R) that stimulates GH release with minimal effect on cortisol or prolactin. It's often discussed in combination with CJC-1295 because the two work through complementary GH-release pathways. Under FDA review.
How it works
Mechanism in plain English.
Ghrelin is the GH-releasing peptide produced primarily in the stomach. Its receptor (GHS-R) on the pituitary stimulates GH release through a pathway distinct from GHRH. Ipamorelin selectively activates GHS-R without binding the related receptors that produce cortisol or prolactin elevation seen with non-selective ghrelin mimetics.

Ipamorelin was developed in the 1990s. Pharmacokinetic and GH-release studies have characterized its profile. Cannot currently be compounded under 503A.
